Camp Counselor - Part Time/Seasonal

Under the direction of the Youth Development Director of School Age Child Care, the Camp Counselor is responsible for the daily operation of one day camp. This includes providing quality childcare, fostering achievement, encouraging belonging, acting as an energetic, positive role model for children and other staff, while developing and implementing thematic age appropriate activities in accordance with the YMCA mission, strategic plan, goals and all policies and procedures of the YMCA of Dane County, Inc. and when applies, accreditation standards of the City of Madison and YoungStar, licensing standards of the State of Wisconsin, and the YUSA Child Care Best Practices.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience as a camp counselor or teacher in a licensed child care center preferred.
- Requires high energy and an interest in planning and participating in fun and creative recreational and experiential activities with children.
- Knowledge of general child growth and development, learning theories, and developmentally appropriate activities for children required.
- Knowledge of state licensing, city accreditation and YoungStar rules and requirements preferred.
- Requires ability to professionally and effectively communicate with members, staff and supervisors; maintainconfidentiality and exchange accurate information.
- Requires ability to effectively interact with, lead, and motivate members who have a variety of abilities and needs.
- Must possess reliable transportation for travel when required.
- Must possess and maintain within the indicated timeframe:
- o CPR/AED and First Aid training within 30 days of start date.
- o YOrientation, Child Abuse Prevention, Bloodborne Pathogens, Epi Pen, and Shaken Baby Syndrome training within 60 days of start date.
Pay Rate: $10 - $12/hour.

Part Day Preschool Teacher
WEST - Part-time
Under the direction of the Youth Development Director of Early Childhood Education, the Part Day Preschool Teacher is responsible for the daily operation of a designated licensed preschool child care program. This includes providing quality child care, fostering achievement, encouraging belonging, acting as a positive role model for children and other staff, while developing and implementing thematic age appropriate activities in accordance with the YMCA mission, strategic plan, goals and all policies and procedures of the YMCA of Dane County, Inc. and when applies, accreditation standards of the City of Madison and YoungStar, licensing standards of the State of Wisconsin, and the YUSA Child Care Best Practices.
POSITIONS SUPERVISED:
No supervisory responsibilities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares healthy meals and snacks for assigned programs/classrooms.
- Facilitates socialization, participation and interaction of all participants through active involvement in safe, fun and developmentally appropriate activities in a licensed preschool child care program; provides adaptations based on individual needs and utilizes positive behavior guidance techniques with participants.
- Implements developmentally appropriate program curriculum and coordinates supplies for designated program(s).
- Assures compliance with accreditation, licensing, school district and YMCA program standards when applicable. Ensures accountability, safety, quality and consistency. Maintains proper records/department files.
- Trains, provides guidance to and directs 4K Assistant Teachers and volunteers as needed. Reports any performance concerns or policy violations to supervisor immediately.
- Performs designated first responder responsibilities as needed. Knows/reviews all safety rules and emergency procedures. Manages emergencies, unusual circumstances and behavior. Completes proper report forms and communicates all incidents requiring disciplinary action to supervisor.
- Assists in ensuring program operates within budget and follows business service policies and procedures.
- Knows and understands child care programs, department policies and emergency procedures and is able to clearly explain said information to members.
- Increases member retention by creating personalized member experiences and positive relationships with and among members, staff, volunteers and/or guests. Creates a supportive and uplifting community environment.
- Facilitates the development of small communities, helping members to connect with other members.
- Communicates clearly and professionally with members, guests, supervisor, and co-workers.
- Respects the confidentiality of all members, volunteers and staff at all times.
- Maintains an organized, healthy and safe environment by returning all supplies and equipment to its appropriate place. Performs required safety, cleanliness and maintenance checks, takes the necessary precautions to prevent accidents, and reports any concerns to supervisor.
- Assists at other child care sites when needed as determined by supervisor or Director of Child Care.
- Attends all mandatory staff meetings and all required YMCA staff trainings.
- Supports and participates in the Annual Campaign; and promotes member participation.
- Acts as a positive role model while implementing YMCA healthy living policies, character development and the four core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.
- Follows all policies and procedures as set forth in the YMCA of Dane County Employee Handbook and Code of Conduct.
- Performs other duties as requested.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with Wisconsin Pre-Kindergarten or Kindergarten licensure required.
- At least six months related experience as a teacher in a licensed preschool or early childhood education center required.
- Ability to apply current research and theory to instructional programming required.
- Ability to identify child’s needs, make appropriate referrals, and implement individual education plans and or 504 plans base on the school district’s policies and recommendations required.
- Knowledge of general child growth and development, learning theories, and developmentally appropriate activities for children required.
- Knowledge of state licensing, city accreditation and Youngstar rules and requirements preferred.
- Requires ability to professionally and effectively communicate with members, staff and supervisors; maintain confidentiality and exchange accurate information.
- Requires ability to effectively interact with, lead, and motivate members who have a variety of abilities and needs.

Bus Driver
NORTHEAST - Part Time
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Provides safe transportation to and from program sites while maintaining a supportive and positive atmosphere. May also provide support in other areas as assigned.
POSITIONS SUPERVISED:
No supervisory responsibilities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Drives bus safely according to YMCA policies and procedures and state laws.
- Completes thorough before-and-after trip checks each day and record all information. Records gas level, mileage, and maintenance on designated forms. Cleans out bus each day.
- Promotes safety at all times by keeping first aid supplies fully stocked.
- Ensures that bus rules are announced and followed.
- Develops friendly and positive relationships among staff, volunteers, parents, and children.
- Communicates regularly with other staff members and supervisor.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- At least one year work experience as a bus driver preferred.
- Possess appropriate class license.
- Current copy of driving record from DMV.
- Knowledge of the rules/guidelines related to commercial passenger vehicles (bus).
- Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR and First Aid.
- Desire and ability to work with children.
- Track record of building relationships with staff, volunteers, and parents.
