CUSTODIAL DEPARTMENT

 

CUSTODIAL ASSISTANT - EAST, NORTHEAST, WEST

Special Certifications or Requirements: Knowledge of standard cleaning and safety procedures. Ability to work independently, seeking supervisory guidance as needed, using guidance provided constructively. Ability to move around for extended periods of times. Ability to understand verbal and written directions. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Requires the ability to effectively communicate in a positive and professional manner with parents, children, members, supervisors and co-workers; maintain confidentiality and exchanging accurate information in all communications.  Must complete child abuse prevention training within 30 days. Must enjoy performing custodial tasks. Must have a positive, friendly attitude.

Volunteer Duties include, but are not limited to: Performs daily cleaning duties that might include washing windows, emptying trash, sweeping floors, vacuuming, etc. Assists maintenance staff with small facility repairs. Arrives 10 minutes prior to start time prepared with a positive attitude and appropriate attire. Works assigned shifts, arranging coverage if unable to volunteer.  Returns all equipment to its appropriate place; keeping storage areas clean and organized for easy access. Communicates clearly and professionally with children, supervisor, co-workers, and families as needed. Follows program rules, YMCA policies and the YMCA Code of Conduct. Acts as a positive role model for players and parents while implementing YMCA healthy living policies, character development and following the four core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility. Performs other tasks deemed necessary by the Property Manager.
