Local Impact: Westside School Fun Run

When one of our local Sun Prairie elementary schools, Westside School, decided to hold a fun run in order to raise funds for classroom libraries, several of our staff jumped in to lend a hand! Staff from our youth sports, child care, and administrative departments all chipped in. From marking runners' shirts to helping count and monitor laps, our staff helped to keep the fun event organized and running smoothly! "Westside is an amazing school with incredible diversity," says Maureen, our Northeast Y Administrative Specialist. "The wonderful teachers and staff really care about our children."

The Westside School Fun Run was put on to raise much needed funds in order to acquire more quality books for our local students. Having a larger volume of books and comfortable spaces to read makes it easier for students to advance their reading skills and keep pace with their necessary reading levels. As an organization dedicated to the physical, mental, and emotional development of local youth, the YMCA is proud to be involved in supporting initiatives like the Westside School Fun Run.
