Local Impact: Sunshine Supper

In the Spirit of hospitality and Community outreach, our Northeast YMCA sponsored a free and nutritious meal on August 3rd for people living in the Sun Prairie area. The once-weekly meal, called the Sunshine Supper, is supported by local civic organizations, churches, professionals and other groups. The participating sponsor groups provide the core components of the meal and the volunteers to serve. One goal of the Sunshine Supper is to provide a hot meal to individuals and families who would otherwise go without.  The second goal is to gather area residents around the dinner table to enjoy friendship and fellowship.

Employees of the Dane County YMCA and their members, board members as well as community members from Allstate and the Sun Prairie Optimist Club volunteered their time and donated food to support this great event. Maureen Crombie, who coordinated the Y’s August 3rd participation, stated, “I always enjoy the process of planning the meal.  It is a great feeling to watch dedicated volunteers participate in such a worthwhile event.   We come together as a community to enjoy fellowship and to also meet new People.”
