AQUATICS

An excellent way to introduce children to fun, safety, and fitness in the water. We provide a positive, loving, enjoyable atmosphere. Each swimmer progresses at their own pace. We emphasize the enjoyment of swimming, water safety, endurance swimming and new strokes. Classes are in progressive order. Held at Evora Lodge's 90o indoor pool, located at 605 Chase Blvd.

1 = Sh (Shrimp)

Program for child 6-30 months w/ parent. Basics, songs, play time.

2 = Pr (Perch)

For parents w/ children 24-36 months. Centered on water adjustment and basic skills. Parents participate in all classes except for last one.

3 = Pk (Pike)

Beg. level for 3yr olds. Focus is on water adjustment and learning skills. Games and songs in addition to float belts may be used.

4 = El (Eel)

Able to paddle on front, back and side 15 feet with support. Feel comfortable submerging face. Breathing patterns introduced.

5 = Ry (Ray)

Able to paddle on front, back and side 15 feet without support. Feel comfortable in deep water. Will learn breathing with strokes and sitting dives.

6 = SF (Star Fish)

Able to paddle on front, back and side 40 feet without support. Focus is on increasing endurance and independence. Will learn kneeling dives.

1 = Pl (Polliwog) - For 6 year olds. Focus is on water

adjustment and basic skills. Strokes will be built on.

2 = Gp (Guppy) - Able to paddle on front, back and side 25 yards with support and 20 feet without support. Breathing patterns with strokes and deep-water skills introduced.

3 = Mn (Minnow) - Able to paddle on front, back and side for 25 yards each without support. Focus is on defining paddles into strokes and teaching basics for breaststroke and backstroke.

4 = Fsh (Fish) - Able to perform front and back crawl, and elementary backstroke 50 yards each. Standing dives. Stroke refinement continued and dolphin kick and dives are learned.

5 = FF (Flying Fish) - Able to perform front and back crawl, elementary backstroke, breaststroke sidestroke for 100 yards each and butterfly for 25 yards. Focus is on stroke refinement and endurance.

6 = Shk (Shark) - Able to perform front and back crawl 100 yards each, elementary backstroke 100 yards, butterfly, breaststroke and sidestroke 50 yards.
