Gentle Water Exercise

Low Intensity Workout

This class is designed with the active older adult, new exercisers or anyone looking to strengthen and stretch in the pool in mind. It combines a light to moderate aerobic workout with exercises in the shallow and/or deep water to help increase endurance, core strength and flexibility. There is limited use of equipment.

A Typical Class

The instructor leads participants through cardio movements such as walking, jogging, kicking, cross country ski movements and jumping jacks.

  • New to class? Arrive a little early so our instructor can give you some pointers.

Equipment, Attire & What to Bring

  • The Y provides all equipment for this class.
  • Come to class dressed and ready for the pool
  • Proper swim attire is required (swim suit), no basketball shorts, street clothes, etc.
  • Water shoes (encouraged)
  • Towel, water bottle
  • Don't forget your pad lock to lock your clothes and valuables in the locker room
