Special Olympics Wisconsin I-TRI Triathlon
The SOWI Indoor Triathlon will take place on January 17, 2016 at the Lussier Family East YMCA in Madison. This will be a multiple-stage competition involving the completion of three non-continuous and non-sequential disciplines, including swimming, cycling, and running. All events will be indoors where athletes utilize treadmills, stationary bicycles and a pool.
Any SOWI athlete (with a valid medical) can enter the event in the individual category or as part of a team. Teams can be comprised of all SOWI Athletes (Traditional Team) or with family or friends (Unified Team). Team members can decide what leg of the triathlon they participate in.
There are two options for distance. Distances were selected to be achievable for a wide number of athletes to increase participation.
Sprint Distance: 25 yard swim, 0.5 mi bike, 0.25 mi run
Olympic Distance: 100 yard swim, 2 mi bike, 1 mi run
All participants will receive a t-shirt and a will receive a medal if they complete the event.
The pool at Lussier Family East YMCA will be closed that day.
