Donor Recognition
The YMCA of Dane County is deeply appreciative of the contributions from each of our donors, sponsors, and grant funders. Only through their generosity is it possible for us to fulfill our mission. The invaluable gifts they provide help to develop and expand programs, minimize program costs and create opportunities for those not otherwise able to take advantage of YMCA services.

The continued community support of individuals, businesses, foundations, and other organizations makes a tremendous impact on the lives of families throughout Dane County. We invite you to meet some of our supporters, and learn how their gifts have helped to build strong kids, strong families, and strong communities.

Thank you for helping us to build strong kids, strong families, and strong communities.

Famous Footwear
has been a generous supporter of the YMCA of Dane County for almost 10 years! They value and care for families in the community by sponsoring Friday Family Fun Nights at the YMCA. This program helps families grow together by giving them the opportunity to spend quality time with each other at the end of what is often a busy and chaotic workweek. Famous Footwear's sponsorship dollars make it possible for families that otherwise could not afford to participate to join in the numerous Friday Family Fun Night activities. Thank you so much to Famous Footwear for allowing Dane County families to focus on what matters most in life...each other!

Morgan's Shoes/Stride Rite/New Balance is a sponsor of the YMCA Youth Basketball League!  Every kid who plays YMCA youth basketball wins.  Not only do they learn to become team players, but they also learn to incorporate our four core values of Honesty, Caring, Respect, and Responsibility into the game and into their lives.  Lessons learned in sportsmanship and team building stay with kids long after the last whistle blows.

Physicians Plus presents Y Kidz Fit!

Y Kidz Fit is sponsored by Physicians Plus at Huegel Elementary School. Y Kidz Fit includes nutrition and fitness sessions for all youth participants along with games, toys, sports, computer software, and other materials to engage youth and teach them ways to make fitness fun.

As a local, community-based health care organization, Physicians Plus is committed to improving the long-term health of our community. And encouraging our children to lead active lifestyles is one of the most important ways we can do this because inactivity is a leading cause of childhood weight problems and obesity. Moreover, we believe that supporting efforts that encourage children and their families to lead more active lifestyles is one of the most important ways we can do this.

Colonel's Kids The Sun Prairie YMCA was one of 14 YMCAs nationally to receive a $25,000 grant from KFC's Colonel's Kids/Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) to launch its first extended-hour preschool program. The grant, awarded in 2004, provides funding over two years to allow the Sun Prairie YMCA preschool program to expand its operating hours, now offering care from 5:45 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The grant also helps to provide financial assistance, add enrichment programming such as music and art, and better serve the growing Spanish-speaking population through the hiring of a bilingual staff member.

Extended-hour child care is relatively new, but is in great demand to address the needs of an increasing number of parents who work irregular, untraditional or long hours, and require care for their children. Previous generations were more likely to have the luxury of relying on a grandparent or family member living in the neighborhood to care for their young children when they went to work. Today, many families are spread all over the map, requiring parents to look elsewhere to find child care. And for many two-career couples who can't find extended-hours child care, the only option is to work alternate shifts, which makes it challenging to spend quality time together as a family.

In fall 2000, KFC launched Colonel's Kids to help make high-quality child care available to more families nationwide, and decided to partner with YMCAs as experts and leaders in the child care industry. Colonel's Kids is one of the first U.S. corporate foundations to name child care as its cause.
