Vital Building Blocks

Children are like sponges - they watch and absorb knowledge, skills and values from everything and everyone around them. At the Y, we believe the values and skills learned early on are vital building blocks for quality of life and future success. That's why our child care, before and afterschool, and Kids Zone programs are staffed with people who understand the cognitive, physical and social development of kids. At the Y, babies develop trust and security, preschoolers experience early literacy and learn about their world, and school-age kids make friends, learn new skills and do homework. Most importantly, children learn how to be their best selves. That makes for confident kids today and contributing and engaged adults tomorrow.

AVAILABLE 4K PROGRAMS

4 YEAR OLD KINDERGARTEN

​In collaboration with area school districts, our Y provides 4K to prepare your child for kindergarten and beyond with a focus on child-centered, play based curriculum. Lead staff are DPI certified teachers. All staff meet DCF licensing requirements for education qualifications. Requests and placement in our Y's 4K program is done through your area school district. After being placed in our program, you will need to register online. There is no cost to families to attend 4k when registered through their school district. The YMCA provides programming before and after 4K at selected locations through our licensed preschool & school age programs. These programs require a separate registration. Please refer to your school district's calendar for dates.
